The Network for a Healthy California - Latino Campaign is a public health initiative led by the California Department of Health Services. Its purpose is to empower low-income Latino adults and their families to consume the recommended amount of fruit and vegetables and enjoy physical activity every day. The Campaign uses a combination of culturally and linguistically appropriate mass media and community based approaches to encourage Latinos to meet their vegetable and physical activity goals.

The Gold Country Regional Campaign conducts community based interventions, supports media activities, and works with community coalitions to expand partnership base and seek ways to create community environments where healthy eating and physically activity is socially supported and accessible.

The Network for a Healthy California - Latino Campaign and physical activity objectives are designed to reduce the risks of chronic diseases, such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and obesity. In addition, each region has a Regional Advisory Council that provides input and direction to the Campaign on its strategies and methods for reaching Latino adults. The Advisory Council is a membership of concerned residents, community leaders, educators, ministers, nurses, doctors, and advocates. Stay tuned for regional efforts and information on ways you can become a part of the Regional Advisory Council.
