Resources Available during COVID-19 Quarantine
As our programs at the Health Education Council adapt to measures aimed to promote the health of our communities and the world during these trying times we want to be able to provide those who typically utilize our services with resources that are available. Check out Health Education Council’s resource page for up-to-date COVID-19 resources.
Information about the Virus
The Council highly recommends that you get your information regarding the COVID-19 virus from evidence based centers. Some resources we suggest are:
The Center for Disease Control (CDC)
Guidance and policy surrounding COVID-19 in California can be found at The California Department of Public Health.
The department also released a guidance to immigrant communities.
Food Resources
If you are in need of food assistance, the Sacramento Food Bank and the Yolo County Food Bank are both still running many distribution sites, as well as some new programs.
To find a distribution center, click here for Sacramento’s database and here for Yolo County’s. Food distribution sites will read either “Temporarily unavailable due to host site COVID-19 mitigation” or “Distribution site is closed until further notice” if the sites are not open at this time.
It is still recommended to try to contact the food banks or distribution sites prior to visiting.
Sacramento Food Bank can be reached at (916) 456-1980 and Yolo County Food Bank can be reached at (530) 668-0690.
