Earn While You Learn Job Training

The Health Education Council, in partnership with the City of Sacramento, and building industry partners, hosted fifteen 18- or 19-years old living in Valley Hi, North Parkway, Meadowview, Del Paso Heights, and other city neighborhoods for a two-week hands-on paid training experiencing in the construction trades.
The first week of the cohort participants received OSHA (safety) training, learned how to use hand and power tools, learned about personal finances, soft skills, etc. The second week of the cohort participantsĀ helped build and deliver beds for families in need through Project My Own Bed, participated in industry site tours, and other hands-on community service projects.
Upon completion of the cohort, participants received a $500 stipend and hadĀ an opportunity to network/connect with potential job opportunities.
