Peer Support Specialist (PSS)

The Health Education Council (HEC) is a CalMHSA-approved vendor of the Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist training. We are currently accepting applications for community members to complete the two week training program (80 hours), which will take place on Aug 10-14th and Aug 24th-28th at our office located in South Sacramento. 

A peer support specialist is someone who works with individuals who are in recovery to foster connectedness and optimism. The primary role is to interact with clients in an accepting, understanding, and validating way to facilitate their recovery.
