Community Safety At a Glance
The goal of our Community Safety efforts is to improve community safety and connectedness to revitalize neighborhoods and gathering points that drive increased health and well-being throughout the greater Sacramento Region. Programs emphasize preventative and wrap around services, as well as cross generational and community rooted support systems.
Three signature programs are managed by the Community Safety team; Safety, Health, Opportunity, & Practice (SHOP), Sacramento Youth Violence Prevention Collective (SYVPC), and Live Well South Sac.
SHOP: The 6-week cohort is paid opportunity for 16-21 year olds to explore critical topics such as communication skills, anger management techniques, health and nutrition, stress reduction/coping mechanisms, job readiness, and building community.
SYVPC: SYVPC members build trust and collaboration with each other in order to better integrate public health, social service and community policing practices. The Collective has participation from over 30 organizations including community advocates, law enforcement, healthcare, and education.
Live Well South Sacramento: The coalition serves as a vibrant collective of community partners dedicated to health and well-being in South Sacramento. Live Well South Sac envisions a healthier and happier community for everyone who lives, works, plays, prays and shops in South Sacramento.
